DESCRIPTIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
Dart Ball
Men and women, young and old, have fun and
fellowship. Cost is
$1.00 each meeting which covers the lunch.

First Families
Families of all ages gather for Christian
socializing in varied family-oriented activities.
Ladies Aid Society
Members support projects of
the Synod and church, serving for funerals, wedding receptions
and other activities, if requested. A prayer group proceeds meetings. Meetings
include a Bible study and lunch.
Retiree Fellowship
Older adults and retired persons meet in
Christian fellowship the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, from September
through May. The day begins with devotion, followed by choices
of Bible Study, craft work, quilting or performing various tasks
for the church or office; ends with an afternoon program. A cost
meal is served at noon. The group plans special activities during the year.
Women of the ELCA/Circles
All women of the church are
members and can actively share in Bible study, projects,
programs and fellowship. Projects include sewing quilts,
Lutheran World Relief clothing drive, layettes and school kits,
etc. Two general meetings are held each year.
Circle
Small group of women meet to discuss scriptures
through Bible study & share in faith using the “Lutheran Woman
Today” as a resource.
Sewing Baptismal Napkins/Droplets - Hemming and embroidery on
napkins which are used and given to a person at their baptism;
also make droplets attached to special banner.

Time & Talent Team
Organize the Time & Talent Fair, an
event in which each ministry displays items pertaining to their
program.
YOUTH MINISTRY
Occasional Adult Support
Provide transportation, arrange for food or chaperone
occasional youth ministry events.
National Youth Gathering
Youth ages 15-18 (by the summer of 2005) are invited to
participate in this mega event to be held in a major U.S. city
in the summer of 2009. Families take primary leadership roles
for the fund raisers.
Elementary Youth Ministry
A “fun and friends” group (Carpenter Kids) for youth and
their families in grades 3-5. Parent leaders Ministry- help plan
and implement monthly events.
Middle School Ministry
For youth in grades 6-8. Activities include a “fun and
friends” group (M&M - Middle & Mighty), leadership program,
servant projects, summer trips and events. Adult leaders are
needed.
High School Ministry
For youth in grades 9-12. Activities include a “fun and
friends” group (TOV - “a perfect moment”), leadership program,
servant projects, summer trips and events. Adult leaders are
needed.
Peer Ministry
Hands-on leadership, faith development and training for High
School Youth & Adults.
Youth Councils
Leadership teams for Middle School and High School Youth
Ministry. Planning for events. Youth and adults are needed.
LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF
Quilt Making
Preparation, assembly, and sewing of quilts. Quilters meet on
Wednesday mornings.
Packing Layettes & School Kits
For babies and children who are in need of them.
If Asked, I would serve on the following committee(s):
Audit
Conducts a yearly audit of the financial records of the
church and prepares a report for the annual meeting.
Cemetery
Oversees the care and maintenance of the church’s cemetery.
Church Council
Has 15 members( of which 1/3 are elected at the annual
meeting for a three year term) which provide leadership,
direction and planning with the Pastors in providing spiritual
care for the congregation, being consistent with the
congregation's vision of its mission.
Endowment
Has 7 members elected/appointed to promote the Endowment Fund
and legacy stewardship through estate planning.
Finance Committee
Monitors finances; reports to the Church Council on monetary
issues. Prepares and recommends the annual budget. The committee
meets monthly or as needed during the budgeting process.
Welcome Ministry
Leadership in planning and creating a hospitable environment.
Also assists with functions of information booth, coffee
fellowship and greeters.
Parish Education
Assists the Director of Education in defining a total
educational program for the parish.
Property and Maintenance
Are responsible for the repair and maintenance of the
physical property and the needs of the buildings and grounds,
making recommendations to the Church Council on major repairs or
replacements.
Social Concerns
Social Concerns. Offers help to the needy within
the church, community, nation and globally.
Special Needs
Researches and recommends ways to meet the needs of
handicapped members to the Church Council.
Stewardship
Gives leadership in developing year round Biblical
stewardship among the members of First Lutheran and directs and
promotes the annual stewardship emphasis under the theme First
for God.
Youth Ministry
Adults and youth oversee youth ministry program including
setting goals and direction for fund raising and budget.
Worship Committee
Helps plan and organize our Worship Ministry through music and
the arts.
HOSPITALITY
Coffee Fellowship
Host and Hostesses preside at the refreshment table on Sunday
mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. They serve 4-5 times a year.
Greeter
Helps to create a warm and friendly atmosphere to welcome
members and guests at Sunday morning worship and at special
events. They drop off coffee mugs and information.
Food Service
Serving food in either a buffet or family-style setting at
church events. Providing assistance with food preparation,
setting up tables and chairs, covering the tables and placing
table service, etc., and assisting with the clean up that
follows. Volunteers are scheduled based on the individual task
and on time preference.
Blessed Bakers
For those who enjoy baking, This is an opportunity to provide
your favorite recipe or dish for a special event such as the
Thanksgiving Pie Social, Cookies For Shut-ins, etc. |
